Things to be thankful for -- Community Thanksgiving Dinner - EQ off the Coast - Human remains found.

Family and friends top the list of reasons to be thankful…

Bob Sneddon has the story…

205 – “I took the time to visit with some folks in our community yesterday and ask them what they were thankful for. I found a couple common themes.
“Always my family, but also just as great the Florence neighbors in our community and the passer bys who lend helping hands and the friends that smile every time I pass them in the store.”
That was business-owner Lisa Sedlacek who also said she was thankful to spend the day with her family, including her father. Police Lieutenant Ray Gutierrez is grateful for family as well.
“I’m just thankful that I have… that I get to spend my uh, Thanksgiving with my family. They’re all here from college and I’m going to have a houseful, so, that’s what I’m thankful for.”
Next up was Lloyd Baker… a retired banker, one of the organizers of the community Thanksgiving Dinner and a local Kiwanian.
“I’m thankful for my family, neighbors and the friends I have. I’m thankful to be in a country that I can do what I want to do with freedoms and I’m thankful I’m in this Florence Kiwanis Club that supports this great community.”
Finally, I spoke with Cindy Wobbe… another business owner who has built a reputation for helping others…
“What don’t I have to be thankful for? Are you kidding? I live a blessed life. This year we did our pounding, we had a record year in donations. I am just overwhelmed in gratitude for the community response to that. I have a beautiful family and a good life. I’m grateful.”
One other common theme with all four… they spend a great deal of time helping others. All would agree that adds to the list of things they have to be thankful for… Happy Thanksgiving… I’m Bob Sneddon

If you have no where to go for thanksgiving, the Florence Kiwanis Club, in cooperation with the Church of the Nazarene and dozens of volunteers will be serving up a traditional turkey dinner today from noon until two… free taxi service is provided by River Cities Taxi. Organizers say once again they had to turn away as many volunteers as they accepted. They’re anticipating between 200 and 300 diners today.

Oregon State Police and the Lincoln County Medical Examiner are working together to identify human remains found on the rocks near Cape Perpetua yesterday. Two people walking a trail near Cape Cove spotted what appeared to be a body below them. Yachats Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the scene and confirmed the discovery of unidentified partial human remains that appeared to have been in the ocean for an unknown extended period of time. No other information is available but authorities say they’ll release more as it becomes known.

The National Earthquake Information Center is reporting a magnitude 4.6 earthquake was recorded yesterday about 200 miles west of Reedsport. Nobody reported feeling the quake, the second in the region this week. Dale Grant with the Golden, Colorado based center says such quakes are routine in the area known as the Cascadia Gap.
